What is this "brushing" scheme? The story behind the packages.
📦 How does it work?
This is a scheme called the "Brushing Scam". Online stores on major platforms (such as AliExpress, Amazon etc.) need 5-star reviews to increase their sales. To leave a "Verified" review, the system requires a real delivery with a tracking number.
So, sellers send junk (defective car parts, hair elastic bands, cheap magic tricks) to real addresses. Once the package arrives at your door, the courier marks it as "Delivered", and the scammers write a false excellent review in your name.
🕵️♂️ Where did they get my address?
The name "Wu Honglu" usually acts as a logistics center. If you have ever ordered something legitimate from China and made a return or there was a data leak at a seller, your address may have ended up in a "list of valid addresses".
The golden rule: You don't have to pay anything. You can throw away the items. But BE CAREFUL to destroy the label on the bag with your name and address before throwing it in the trash!
